UConn Health Center
Take Your Child to Work Day

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Human Resources is pleased to announce that the UConn Health Center’s Take Your Child to Work Day will be held on April 26, 2012. This is a great opportunity to acknowledge and support employees as parents and mentors by having girls and boys, ages 8-15, seeing their parents and other adults as everyday heroes - people who are contributing to their workplace, their families and the larger community through their daily actions. Children learn the value of their education by discovering the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life. In addition, the day’s activities provide them opportunities to develop and share how they envision their future. They will witness first-hand the range of jobs available at the Health Center through a hands-on health fair, department tours, and interactive displays.

Guidelines for Participation

Your child should be between the ages of 8-15 years old. Children will be grouped according to age. Siblings of different age groups cannot be placed together.

  1. Participation must be cleared with your direct manager or supervisor in advance. Employees, department managers, and supervisors must consider the safety, confidentiality and appropriateness of children in the workplace. Strong consideration should be given to whether or not a child should participate due to the nature of the work.
  2. As per Health Center policy, the accompanying adult (employee) is responsible for the minor child.
  3. Reminder for parents or sponsors that work in lab areas: Children under the age of 16 should not be in any laboratories or any area that has potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation or other workplace hazards.

Registration

This program is open to all Health Center faculty and staff. Registration is required to participate. Registration is currently closed
