Take Your Child to Work Day

Take Your Child to Work Day is designed to expand opportunities for girls and boys between the ages of 8 – 15 years old.  The structured day exposes them to what adults in their lives do during the work day, show them the value of their education, and give them an opportunity to share how they envision their future.  The event is sponsored by Human Resources with the assistance and partnership of the Health Center community.  Employees are encouraged to bring their 8 – 15 year old children, nieces, nephews, or special young person to participate in this event.  The event will be held April 24h from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Register for this event by Friday, April 11th, 2007.

Guidelines for Participation

  1. The ages for individual children are 8 to 15 years old. Children will be grouped according to age.
  2. Participation must be cleared with managers/supervisors in advance.
  3. Employees and managers/supervisors must consider the safety, confidentiality, and appropriateness and realize that some employees, because of the nature of their work, may not be able to participate with their child/children in this program.
  4. Participation must comply with the “Children of Employees in the Workplace” policy that is found on the web at http://employ.uchc.edu/ppf/policies/index.html. This policy states, in part, that the accompanying adult (the employee) is responsible for the minor.
  5. *Reminder for parents/sponsors that work in lab areas: Children under the age of 15 should not be in the following laboratories or an area than has potential exposure to blood born pathogens, radiation or other workplace hazards.
